About Kollabit

Kollabit is a remote-first software studio in Canada. We build websites, CRM systems, mobile apps and AI automation for small businesses — mostly legal and real estate practices who've been quoted $15,000 and three months by someone else.

We scope work in days and ship in days. That only works with people who can go from a conversation to a working product without a project manager in between.

About the role

Half engineering, half working out what the customer actually needs.

Small business owners can't write a spec. They'll tell you they need a website when what they need is a way to stop losing leads at 6pm. Your job is to hear the real problem inside the stated one, then build the thing that solves it — usually inside the same week.

You'll be the only technical person in the room. That's the role.

What you'll do

• Run discovery calls and turn vague frustration into a scoped, buildable project
• Build and deploy the solution yourself
• Integrate with whatever the client already runs, however ancient
• Train the client's team to actually use what you built
• Push back when the request won't solve the problem, and explain why
• Feed patterns back to us so we can productise the ones that repeat

What we're looking for

• 4+ years engineering, with meaningful client-facing time
• Full-stack, pragmatic, allergic to over-engineering
• Genuinely good with non-technical people — patient, clear, never condescending
• You've integrated with legacy systems and ugly APIs and lived
• You can scope a project accurately enough that we'd bet money on it, because we do
• Comfortable being the only engineer on a project

Nice to have

• Consulting, agency or solutions engineering background
• Legal, real estate or professional services experience
• Automation across tools — Zapier, Make, n8n, or custom
• Fluent in French, useful for Quebec clients
