Legal & Law Firms

Software built for how a practice actually runs.

Intake that works at 2am, drafting that starts from your own precedents, and a client portal that stops the same phone call happening four times. Built for your firm specifically, in days, for the price of a couple of billable hours.

What we can build

The things you assumed were too expensive to build.

Custom software used to mean six figures and a year. It doesn't any more. Here's what practices are having built now.

AI document draftingRetainers, demand letters and standard forms, drafted from your own precedents.

AI document drafting

Trained on your existing precedent bank, it produces a first draft in your firm's language and formatting. Nothing leaves the building without a lawyer approving it.

What's included

  • Drafts from your precedents, not generic templates
  • Pulls matter details in automatically, so no re-keying names and dates
  • Approval step before anything is sent or filed
  • Tracks which precedents get edited most, so you can fix the source

Typical build: 5 days

After-hours intake botCaptures the 11pm enquiry, qualifies it, books the consult.

After-hours intake bot

Most legal enquiries arrive outside business hours, and whoever answers first usually gets the retainer. This answers immediately, asks your qualifying questions and books the consultation.

What's included

  • Your qualifying questions, in your order
  • Books straight into your calendar
  • Runs a preliminary conflict flag before booking
  • Escalates anything urgent or legally sensitive to a human

Website content that publishes itselfDrafts articles, emails you for approval, publishes on your say-so.

Website content that publishes itself

Practice-area content is how firms get found, and nobody has time to write it. This drafts on the topics you choose, emails you the draft, and publishes to your site when you reply approve.

What's included

  • Topics from your practice areas and real client questions
  • Approve or reject by email, no login
  • Publishes with the right structure and schema for search
  • Nothing goes live without your explicit approval

Typical build: 4 days

Matter CRM, connected to everythingWebsite, email, phone and calendar in one system.

Matter CRM, connected to everything

Every enquiry from every channel lands in one place, attached to a matter, with deadlines and retainer status visible. Built around how your practice works rather than how a software company thinks it should.

What's included

  • Website forms, email and phone enquiries in one pipeline
  • Conflict checks, retainer status, key dates
  • Automatic reminders on limitation periods
  • Your stage names, your fields

Client status portalClients check their own file instead of calling you.

Client status portal

The "what's happening with my file" call is the most repeated and least billable thing in a practice. Clients log in, see current status, next step and what's outstanding from them.

What's included

  • Status and next steps in plain language
  • Secure document upload and download
  • Automatic notification when something changes
  • You control exactly what's visible

Replace the software you're rentingAdd up your monthly subscriptions. It's usually more than the build.

Replace the software you're renting

Most practices pay per-seat for four or five tools and use a fraction of each. We build the parts you actually use into one system you own outright, with no monthly fee.

What's included

  • We audit what you pay for and what you use
  • Build the overlap into one owned system
  • No per-seat pricing, so hiring doesn't raise the bill
  • Keep whatever genuinely earns its subscription

Typical build: 5–10 days depending on the stack

Capabilities, timelines and performance are scoped targets. Final scope depends on your data, providers, permissions, network conditions and testing.

Why us

Three ways to solve this. Two of them cost more.

  1. 01

    Build it yourself

AI tools make building look easy until it needs to be secure, connected to your calendar, and reliable at 2am on a file that matters. The build isn't the hard part. Everything after it is. Your hourly rate is also higher than ours.

  2. 02

    Buy off-the-shelf

It fits some firms. If it fit yours, you'd already be using it properly instead of working around it in a spreadsheet. You pay monthly, per seat, forever, and you bend your process to their fields.

  3. 03

    Have it built here

Built around how your practice actually runs, in days, for a few hundred dollars a day. You own it outright. No subscription, no per-seat pricing, and no one to ask permission when you want it changed.

Typical day estimates are non-binding. Final scope is confirmed before billing; taxes and third-party costs are additional. Custom project deliverables transfer after final payment, subject to our Terms. Pre-existing Kollabit materials and third-party tools keep their existing ownership or licences.

How this starts

A free consultation. Genuinely no strings.

Thirty minutes, no charge, no sales process. You describe what's costing you time and we tell you whether it's worth building and roughly how many days. If the answer is that you don't need us, that's what you'll hear.

  1. 01

Tell us the problem — free

A call or a rough idea is enough. You do not need to arrive with a specification.

  2. 02

    See a prototype — free

We prepare one clickable prototype and include one feedback round. The prototype remains ours unless the engagement proceeds.

  3. 03

    Approve the scope

If the direction is right, we confirm a fixed scope and price in days. Billing begins only after you approve that scope.

  4. 04

    Watch it get built

You get daily progress you can review. Custom deliverables transfer after final payment, subject to our Terms.

Pricing

Two hundred dollars a day, per engineer.

That's the whole model. Most of what's on this page is two to five days. A client intake system costs less than a single contested motion, and it works every night for the next five years.

Questions

The ones we get asked.

How much does a law firm website cost in Canada?

A simple site is roughly $400 CAD at $200 per engineer-day and typically two days. Simple and typical estimates are non-binding. Final scope is confirmed before billing; taxes and third-party charges are additional.

How long does it take to build?

A simple website typically takes two days; a typical intake system or matter CRM takes about five. Scope is confirmed first.

Do you understand Law Society advertising rules?

We account for published advertising considerations, including accurate claims and restricted specialist language. The licensed practice remains responsible; we do not provide legal advice or certify compliance.

Can you integrate with Clio or PracticePanther?

Potentially, when the provider exposes suitable access or an API and your account permits it. We confirm that during scope.

Where is my data stored?

Residency is chosen during scope. Canadian residency can be used when required and supported; PIPEDA accountability also applies to third-party processing.

Can you fix my existing website?

Often, yes. We compare a focused repair with replacement and show the cheaper useful direction.

Who owns the finished work?

Custom project deliverables transfer after final payment, subject to our Terms; pre-existing and third-party materials keep their existing licences.

Do you work with solo paralegals and small firms?

Yes. The page is designed for solo and small practices, including paralegals, lawyers and law firms.

What if I don't like it?

One clickable prototype and one feedback round are free. If you stop there, no payment is due and you keep the feedback; the prototype remains Kollabit property unless the engagement proceeds, subject to our Terms.

Do you use AI on my client files?

No. Kollabit does not place privileged material, client files or identifying case data into third-party AI tools. Confidential flows require kickoff scoping, approved providers, access controls, retention and human review. Canadian residency can be scoped when required and supported. The licensed practice remains responsible for professional advertising compliance; Kollabit provides no legal advice or certification.

Tell us what's eating your week.

We'll tell you how many days it takes to fix. Free, and there's no pitch on the other end.
